TranscenData drives into Europe and Peugoet-Citroen

UK based TranscenData Europe has recently been selected by PSA Peugeot Citroën to provide its data interoperability solutions in France. The agreement allows Peugeot access to the CADfix range of tools, including the latest CATIA export module, and is a significant step in TranscenData's move into the European market.

A variety of problems inherent in information and file transfer between different CAD systems can be addressed by CADfix. Engineers at PSA, working with solid and surface CAD models, had experienced problems with data transfer, making the models difficult to work with.

Nicolas Tournier, Engineer at PSA says: "The CAD models produced had been problematic to use, the format changes they had undergone made them almost impossible to utilise directly. CADfix allows us not only to repair the CAD models quickly and efficiently but also to generate a much higher standard of CAD model which can be immediately worked with in VR."

PSA are using CADfix for more than simple CAD transfer and file repair says M. Tournier: "At the moment we are working to create virtual reality models of vehicles. The aim is to allow people to look around a vehicle and see a complete 3D presentation of a car's attributes while surfing the net. CADfix has assisted us in creating meshes which can then be reworked on the internet. We have ordered a second seat, and we expect great things from the latest Catia export tools."

John Meaney, Director of Sales and Marketing at TranscenData Europe comments: "This agreement is a major step into the European market for TranscenData. Working with one of Europe's principal vehicle manufacturers is a definite boost."

The latest version of CADfix, CADfix 5.0, will be demonstrated at MICAD 2002 in Paris later this year, aiming to increase its profile in Europe. Meaney continues: "While retaining all of the existing translation tools incorporated in CADfix, Version 5.0 will deliver significant improvements to all aspects of the product including new and improved import and export interfaces which will reduce processing times significantly. We believe that PSA's endorsement will assist us in the European expansion programme."
