Transcendata Europe Ltd is the European division of TranscenData, an ITI business.
Company Mission Statement
CADfix has evolved from over twenty years R&D in solving geometry problems encountered during the exchange of design data. Our mission is to establish CADfix as the de-facto solution worldwide for the exchange, preparation, repair and re-use of solid models between CAD/CAM/CAE applications. Through CADfix CAE modelling we also aim to provide the most competitive CAE modelling product for niche modelling applications.
Brief Company History
TranscenData Europe Ltd was originally founded in 1978 as FEGS Ltd by Dr Geoffrey Butlin. Through the 80's and 90's FEGS was renowned for technically advanced software in the finite element analysis market. The company's flagship product for many years was FAM, for finite element and finite difference pre and post processing. This has allowed customers to build simulation systems for complex engineering problems. A typical example is British Aerospace Military Aircraft who have been using FAM as the software framework for their electromagnetic analysis. The image below shows a FAM model of the Eurofighter 2000 aircraft. This model was created by importing data from Catia. The geometry was then meshed and analysed for lightning strike behaviour. The results shown in the image are from this analysis, taken at sections cut through the aircraft and the surrounding airspace.
The company has also been involved in a number of European Commission and UK Government funded research projects. Based around engineering applications, these have extended technological knowledge and have brought product enhancements.
Following the success of the FAM product, Transcendata Europe developed its core modelling technology to satisfy the growing demand for geometric data exchange and re-use in the CAD/CAM/CAE markets. This led to the development of the latest product, CADfix, which has received glowing reports from potential sales channel outlets, and key account customers have hailed the concept as exceptional.
Readers of the influential US magazine Engineering Automation Report recently rated the "ability to exchange data between software packages from different vendors" as their number one concern. CADfix directly addresses this concern in a unique product.
The traditional approach to data exchange is very much a black box approach, and tends to have a success rate of less than 50%. By combining automatic routines with the ability of the user to interact with the process and deal with inaccuracies and incompleteness in the original model, CADfix has been shown to increase the success rate of data re-use to in excess of 90%.
The product range was re-aligned during 1997 and the FAM product was re-named CADfix CAE.
In October 1998, FEGS Ltd became a subsidiary of International TechneGroup Inc of Milford, Ohio, USA. This move established CADfix within a wider range of products, and gave access to additional market channels in the USA and Asia-Pacific. See the press release.
In October 2001, FEGS Ltd changed it's name to TranscenData Europe Ltd to reflect it's new, additional responsibility for European sales and marketing of all TranscenData products. See the press release and the latest issue of the Fixer for more details. TranscenData Europe Ltd continues to have full responsibility for the development and support of the CADfix product.
